Environmental Support
At Police Credit Union we believe in being actively involved in minimising our impact on the environment.
That's why we're teaming up with a range of community groups and other organisations to make PCU and our local areas cleaner and greener.
Here are some of the ways we're planting the seed through community and environmental initiatives:
- adoption of a Tasmanian Devil, with the funds donated used to assist the breeding program conducted by the Australian Reptile Park in NSW
- venture with FAME to fund research to find a cure for the cancer afflicting the Tasmanian Devil which is threatened with extinction
- a number of our staff got their hands dirty at Wadmore Park, Athelstone to plant over 200 native seedlings
- we have sponsored the installation of a greenhouse at Rostrevor College for the propagation of seedlings
- we have donated $3,000 to fund a project by the Walkerville Rotary Club and Wilderness School to plant 2,500 trees and revive areas devastated by the 2005 bushfire on the Eyre Peninsula.
- we are participating in an industry program with Zerowaste SA to identify our level of sustainability and continue to improve it
- our staff are all doing their bit to reduce our carbon emissions by 5% per staff member by year over the next 3 years
- we have put in place a number of workplace initiatives including switching off whenever possible, recycling all available materials (including paper, plastic, milk cartons and printer cartridges), using energy efficient lighting and printing double-sided or not at all!
