Internet security...two levels of protection.

At Police Credit Union, we pride ourselves on offering our Members the safest and most secure way to access their money online.

We do this by offering two levels of proctection:

CAPTCHA

Firstly we provide a randomly generated CAPTCHA image to protect against machine based attacks.

Click here to find out more.

SMS One Time Password (OTP)

Our second level authentication tool is a randomly generated password being sent via SMS text message to a pre-registered mobile phone.

The SMS One Time Password (OTP) will need to be entered in addition to your current login details, access password and the CAPTCHA image.

By electing to receive a SMS password, you also have the ability to transfer funds in excess of the current daily limit.

Your security checklist

Here are some advice to keep in mind to make sure your online banking experience is hassle free:

  • Never provide your personal details. sign-on, password, creditcard or account details in response to any email - even if it looks like PCU sent it.
  • Police Credit Union will never ask you to confirm your details via phone or email - we already have them on file!
  • Do not click on links or attachments in emails sent from a source you do not know or trust; or to access PCU's Internet Banking site.
  • Review your transaction history every time you log onto Internet Banking, and also check every statement for transactions you do not recognise.

Computer Security - Viruses / Trojans / Keyloggers / Spyware

You don't have to be too tech savvy to protect your computer - anyone can do it!

Computers can be easily infected by malicious software that can transmit personal information to other parties, who then may use that information to raid your bank account or compromise your credit card.

Here are some tips to protect your computer:

  • Ensure you have the latest Anti-virus / Anti-spyware protection installed, and have it set to update automatically.
  • Regularly run scans of your PC using the updated security software.
  • Utilise the software's Firewall function.
  • Avoid accessing internet banking from shared computers or internet cafes.
  • Always click on the "logout" button to exit Internet Banking.
