IMPORTANT INFORMATION for Internet and Mobile Banking users!

Thinking about travelling overseas?

You should let us know.

This will allow us to monitor high risk transactions more effectively and avoid any possible inconvenience by us taking preventative action against what could be legitimate transactions.

Tips when travelling overseas?

  • Provide us with a copy of your travel details, your immediate contact numbers and email address so we can contact you should the need arise.
  • Ensure your card will not expire while away. This could prove to be an annoying and costly convenience.
  • Know where your cards are at all times and have a backup card incase it is lost or stolen.
  • Report lost or stolen cards immediately by calling +61 29959 7480
  • In the case your card is stolen while away, make a police report in the jurisdiction where your card was stolen.
  • Write down your card numbers and the toll free hotline number. Keep them separate to your wallet so you know who to call should your cards need to be cancelled.

PIN Security: now even more important!

Many countries now have security chip technology and require a PIN instead of a signature to authorise transactions on a credit card.

Without a PIN, a merchant could decline a transaction when you try to use your Visa card overseas.

A few helpful tips to keeping your PIN secure while overseas:

  • Never disclose your PIN to anyone or allow anyone to see you enter it into a device.
  • Never write down your PIN. If you change your PIN avoid choosing obvious numbers, for example: your birth date, phone number or sequential numbers.
  • Question the overseas merchant if they attempt to swipe your card through more than one machine or device.

And of course you are covered by the Guardian Money Back Guarantee

This means that if you suffer a loss as a result of a fraudulent transaction, we will credit your account with the amount of the loss provided you:

  • You have not directly contributed to the fraud; and
  • Have notified us promptly of the fraud.
If you notice any unusual transactions on your account, please contact us immediately on 1300 131 844.
