About Us

We’re proud of our police heritage and the award-winning credit union we’ve become...

Who we are

As a credit union, we have supported our customers for over 50 years… We first opened our doors in 1970 to service the financial needs of South Australian police, with officers literally turning their caps upside down on pay day to pool their funds and provide loans to other officers.

Now, we’re for everyone, with over 40,000 happy customers.

Although we now offer our banking services to everyone, we still honour our police heritage with our Platinum package available for police, healthcare professionals such as nurses, as well as emergency services workers and firefighters.

With seven branches across SA and NT and four Relationship Managers, we offer a full range of comprehensive and competitive banking products including award-winning home loanscar loans, personal loans and credit cards, as well as outstanding everyday accountssavings and investment accounts and general insurance products.

Further to this, we offer our customers 24/7 access to their money with our state of the art facilities including our Banking App, Online Banking, Fast Payments and Digital Wallet options with Apple PayGoogle Pay and Samsung Pay.

What is a credit union?

A credit union is a member-owned financial institution, and although a credit union has some similarities to a bank, there are some important differences.

We’re like a bank but better!

  • A credit union’s priority is its customers. We put them first by providing highly competitive banking products, all while delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Unlike banks, credit unions are member-owned, this means that every customer (also known as a member) has an equal share in our business. They are our shareholders.
  • All our profits are reinvested into providing better service, rates, products and value for its customers.
  • Every member can have their say on how we run our organisation when they are invited to attend our Annual General Meeting where they have the opportunity to provide direct feedback.
  • As a credit union, we are not a publicly listed company on the Australian Securities Exchange (like many major Australian banks are) which means we can focus on providing the best return to our members and not external shareholders.
  • A credit union is not obliged to any external shareholders or pays dividends, rather our priority is to deliver a customer service that is second to none.

“People continue to see banks focus on delivering profits to shareholders, and understand that because we are member-based we can reinvest into developing better products and services, provide exemplary customer service, and give back by supporting a range of important community initiatives.” Costa Anastasiou – CEO, Police Credit Union

Why us?

As a member-owned organisation, 100% of our profits go back into providing our members with market leading rates and personal service.

Testimonials

Don’t just take our word for it, here’s what some of our customers have to say:

When you go into a Police Credit Union branch you are greeted by your christian name and we know the staff in our branch by their christian name. To get that sort of service, and for them to know you on a personal level, you just don’t get that with the big banks. I find that really refreshing and an easy way to do my banking.

Roger and Jane, Walkley Heights SA

It’s so awesome! I love it already! Thank you for your help with everything, I really appreciate how easy the process was.

Alice, Angaston SA
