Police Credit Union and the Australian Red Cross Blood Service Join Forces!
22 December 2016
It is a statistic that really hits home – 1 in 3 Australians will need blood. This just reinforces the importance of the work that the Australian Red Cross Blood Service does.
Here at Police Credit Union we are proud to be a part of Red25 – a unique program uniting workplaces, community groups, schools and universities around Australia to donate blood on a regular basis. Amazingly, Red25 members around the country ensure that 25% of Australia’s blood donations are secured.
On Tuesday 7 December, 2016 a group of Police Credit Union staff went to the Regent Arcade Donor Centre to take part in a ‘whole blood’ donation. This donation run was a particularly special one as two very important guests joined in on the donating action…
Our friendly mascot, Poccu, was welcomed by the very smiley Australian Red Cross Blood Service mascot, Billy the Blood Drop, as they joined each other to donate some red and blue blood (because Poccu has blue blood, of course). Some eyebrows were raised and some selfies were taken but most importantly the significance of blood donating was brought into the spotlight.
As a business, we feel welcomed into the Blood Service family and we look forward to continuing our work with such a vital and lifesaving organisation.
In 2016 we have donated 38 times which in turn saved 114 lives. What an effort by our Red25 team!
