Police Credit Union Helps Spread Christmas Joy At A Very Special Christmas Party
21 December 2018
There’s nothing like spreading a little bit of Christmas joy, especially to sick children. So, on Friday, 14 December 2018, we attended a very special Christmas Party to do just that!
Along with some other very special guests including Star Wars characters, our very own Poccu and Father Christmas (of course), the Police Link Christmas Party held at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital helps to put smiles on the faces of sick children and their families.
Throughout the year the Blue Light ‘Police Link’ program sees police officers spend time with kids who are in hospital to create a distraction from their illness, all while teaching them about community safety. As advocates for the program, we here at Police Credit Union have done what we can to help out this worthy cause, including raising over $20,000 in total for the program.
The end of year Christmas party is certainly a highlight on the Police Link calendar with over 145 presents handed out to all the children in the hospital. Some of Santa’s elves even visit wards around the hospital, making sure that the children who couldn’t make it down to Santa’s ‘Magic Cave’ still get something special to brighten their day!
If you want to know more about the Blue Light Police Link program and how you can help out, just head here. Also, look out for our next Canoe for Kids event in 2019 where we will be aiming to raise our largest total yet! The funds from this event go directly to the Police Link Program and help purchase all the presents handed to the children throughout the hospital.
We can’t wait to attend this very meaningful Christmas party again next year but in the meantime, here are some photos from the 2018 event!
