Distinguished police officer, Inspector Kevin Lawton, announced as Director on Police Credit Union Board

Police Credit Union is pleased to announce the election of Inspector Kevin Lawton to the position of Director on its Board. Inspector Lawton brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his Director role, culminating from over three decades of dedicated service in South Australia Police (SAPOL), and extensive governance experience.

Inspector Lawton has worked extensively across numerous metropolitan and regional postings, as well as a police prosecutor. He has held key roles across SAPOL, including Operations within the State Crime Prevention Branch, Community Relations Section, State Intelligence Branch and Forensic Services Branch, as well as Operations Manager for the Eyre Western Local Service Area.

Police Credit Union Chair, Mr Alex Zimmermann said prior to his current role as Communications Shift Manager within Police Communications, Inspector Lawton played a crucial role as SAPOL’s Police Liaison Officer within SA Health’s State Control Centre during the statewide pandemic response.

“Kevin brings substantial experience in board governance across the emergency services sector. His tenure as a Director on the boards of Emergency Services Ltd and Police Health Ltd, including as Deputy Chairman, showcases his dedication to community service and leadership capability,” Mr Zimmermann said.

“Kevin’s previous involvement in various committees and organisations such as Chairman of Blue Light (SA) and as the Police Association of South Australia Branch President for Metro North underlines his commitment to the state and aligns with our own commitment to give back to the community at every opportunity,” he said.

In addition to being recognised as a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Inspector Lawton’s extensive academic achievements include a Graduate Certificate in Applied Management from the Australian Institute of Police Management (AIPM) and a Bachelor of Labour Relations and Operations Management (UniSA). During his three decades with SAPOL, he has been formally recognised with a National Medal, National Police Service Medal, SAPOL Service Medal and, most recently, the Emergency Response Active Service Medal.

“As a member of the Police Credit Union Board Risk Committee and Board Audit Committee, Kevin brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and understanding of organisational dynamics, board stewardship and the contemporary challenges, important skills vital to the continued success of Police Credit Union,” Mr Zimmermann said.
