Police Credit Union partners with Jeffries to combat green waste

As a proudly certified carbon neutral organisation for our business operations through Climate Active, Police Credit Union is dedicated to reducing our carbon emissions and impact on the environment.

As green waste collection is currently not a service offered in the Adelaide metro area, we joined forces with local family run business Jeffries, through their Jeffries Compost Service in 2024 to continue championing organics recycling. This follows a successful partnership with EcoCaddy in 2023.

Every week, the team at Jeffries collect our green waste from our Head Office and Adelaide branch. From there they recycle our organics into premium products which go back into the soil.

Jeffries has had their hands in South Australian soil for generations. Driven by wholesome family values and innovation, they have developed world-leading organic recycling technologies and collection partnerships. The team at Jeffries delivers premium compost, soil, mulch, organic fertilisers and biochar for farmers, viticulturists, landscapers and home gardeners.

In addition to returning vital nutrients to the soil, composting diverts organic waste from landfill, significantly reducing methane emissions which are powerful greenhouse gases. Composting involves microorganisms breaking down organic matter in the presence of oxygen, leading to stable compost rather than methane.

Together we are attempting to divert carbon from the atmosphere, with a waste management process that has zero emissions.

This waste management program is one of many initiatives in place to reduce Police Credit Union’s environmental impact and improve organisational practices.
